I began Fresh Weddings as an officiant in 1982 on the southern Oregon coast. At that time and place, the only options couples had to be married were either in a religious institution or in a judge’s chamber. I relocated to Portland in 1989 in order to further my work as an educator and storyteller, as well as to expand Fresh Weddings.

 

I recognized my ability to make people comfortable by offering to conduct non-denominational ceremonies, making it possible for couples to have weddings just the way they envision them, and in their choice of settings. Ceremonies are presented in a thoughtful, eloquent manner, suitable for any size wedding.  Over the years I have had the honor of performing hundreds of ceremonies, both large and small, in Oregon, Washington, and even Belize.

 

My objective was the same as I have now, which is to ensure that couples’ choices are respected and that ceremonies are tailored to fit their desires. I offer an initial no cost consultation. I am available for traditional and non-traditional weddings, commitment, and reaffirmation ceremonies. I also conduct rehearsals upon request.
